Karapincha opens first brick and mortar restaurant

The Sri Lankan food concept currently operates as a trader.

Sri Lankan concept, Karapincha, is opening the brand’s first permanent site in Canary Wharf this August.

The 350 sq ft site located in Canary Wharf tube station will feature many of Karapincha’s signature homemade lunch and dinner dishes including Kothu Roti; Paratha; Rice boxes and Devilled chicken.

The all-day cafe with seating available for up to 10 covers, will be the first in the group to also offer breakfast which is expected to consist of dishes like French toast, Ceylon tea, and ham and cheese stuffed roti.

Owned by identical twin sisters Vasanthini and Dharshini Perumal, the small, family-run business currently operates as a trader in three of London’s food markets: Spitalfieds Market, Elephant & Castle’s Mercato Metropolitano, and Market Place Vauxhall.

“We are thrilled to be taking the next step in Karapincha’s journey at Canary Wharf. This more permanent site is a significant milestone for us and the location itself carries such personal significance as our former workplace where we spent so many years being the commuters walking through the tube station to whom we will now be serving delicious authentic, homemade Sri Lankan dishes,” owner and founder Vasanthini.
